Future Allegories: An Exhibition of Taiwanese Contemporary Arts

Taiwan’s inherent openness as an island has laid the foundation of its rich history, economic growth and diverse cultures, building a solid and profound foundation for its national identity and soft power. As we pursue global competitiveness for the future, we pay equal—if not more—attention to the value of local cultures, the meaning of technologies, the essence of life, and how they change with time.

The exhibition Future Allegories displays 38 art pieces by 29 Taiwanese artists in public spaces of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore. The artists’ observation, exploration, and reflection upon contemporary phenomena provide food for thought about the future— is like an allegory that reminds the viewers of their shared experience and catapults them into a moment of revelation, which could become a drive to move forward.

Time: October 26, 2017 – October 27, 2018
Venue: Taipei Representative Office in Singapore
Hosted by: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Republic of China(Taiwan)
Organized by: Taipei Representative Office in Singapore, Taiwan Art Bank, National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts
