In the work, “Chaos, Roots,” CHEN Tzung-Shiun has created the image of three figures with 7 pairs of arms and legs apart from a peculiar look. These figures need the assistance of many pairs of legs and arms because of the infinite desire grown in them. In a closer look, these three peculiar figures appear to be one family. Through the breast-feeding of the mother and the genes from the father, the seed of desire grows inside the newborn baby, despite of the closed eyes, is waiting to come out at anytime. These two parents also have protruding sexual organs that seem to deepen their instincts to pursue more desire. Artist CHEN Tzung-Shiun uses the language of ironic illustration that combines human body with animal shapes to describe the ugly look of human pursuing desires.
