TSAI Shih-Hung’s visual elements are taken from animation, cartoons, movies, and photographs in order to create fantastic sceneries that differ from everyday lives. The Land of T-Rex is composed of 2 separate panels. The first shows the shadow of an aircraft imposed on an unending ocean that seems to be heading towards the target marker shown on the top of the painting. The other panel shows a background filled with landscape textures upon which floats a T-rex shaped island with a blue waterfall cascading through it. The island is also being observed by several reconnaissance aircraft. TSAI Shih-Hung’s works depict alternative imaginations of national boundaries, sovereign relationships between countries, and the realistic state of being in the modern society.
