LEE Min-Tao has a portfolio that covers pure artworks, commercial brands, performance arts, and public arts, but is famous for his series of robot characters that he started for his two sons living on the other side of the Pacific. These robots are, in a way, like his children and slowly grew to become a family. “Tika, Taiwanese for iron feet” is one such robotic character. It has a big, yellow head, powerful, energetic, and metallic legs, as well as emotional eyes. LEE Min-Tao hopes that this metaphorical expression will imbue his children with the ability to successfully push forward at every stage of their lives, and offer them the courage and comfort symbolized by the robot to face this doubtful and uncertain era.
